Gorgeous vases hand thrown, hand painted and carved by artisans in San Juan de Oriente, a small village in Nicaragua.  Artisans throw pots using a kick wheel. Afterward, they are painted and then meticulously carved, sgraffito style. Their carving tools are typically repurposed from the spokes of bicycle wheels. Once the decorative incisions are complete, the pot is fired in a wood burning kiln, after which it is removed and polished.  Images and details vary from piece to piece.  For decorative use.  Not to be used with water.
